AAS Meeting In Long Beach

Where The Stars Come Out!

The annual meeting of the American Astronomical Society has gotten under way in Long Beach, CA. Like last year you can see the live press briefings and take part in live chats via the InterTubes.

On Jan. 6 there will be press briefings at 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM Eastern which are webcasted at USTREAM. The schedule is posted daily at the Astronomy Cast web site, but you have to dig to find it. Try this – along the right hand column is the “Show Index”, and I found tomorrow’s schedule under “Cosmology”, by the title AAS Live Video Coverage for Tuesday Jan. 6th UPDATED!. It is a link to the schedule, and also provides links to USTREAM from where you can see the conference. That is, you can if the link is correct.

Enjoy!

Update: Nancy Atkinson is listing the schedule of events daily at Universe Today. For 06-Jan. 09, the USTREAMed press conference schedule and topics are:

  • 9:00 AM – Cassiopeia A
  • 10:30 AM – Star News
  • 11:30 AM – Bright Flashes in the Universe
  • 1:00 PM – News from Fermi and SWIFT
  • 3:00 PM – History Mysteries

(all times Pacific.)  She also gives valid links to join the USTREAM videos and chats.
