They could be the best meteor shower of the year.

The Quadrantid (pronounced KWA-dran-tid) meteor shower provides one of the most intense annual meteor displays, with a brief, sharp maximum lasting but a few hours. The timing of peak activity favors Western Europe and eastern North America. Weather permitting, skywatchers in rural locations could see one or two shooting stars every minute during the peak.

Look for them to be best before dawn on the east coast.

The highest number of meteors per minute will probably be earlier, at about 1:40 am, according to the International Meteor Organization. But the point from when the meteors will be coming is still below the horizon at that time. Towards dawn, the radiant will be high in the sky and the view should be great.
