What Goes Up, Must Come Down, And Go Up

Today’s 625 point swing (on the DOW) most clearly looked odd. In fact, if you did look at it, you probably got whiplash (so don’t do that!). It’s all a reaction to worries about the pending recession, they say. Yes, they. The they-who-say. The good Capt’n Ed quotes the Congressional Budget Office (from Yahoo):

The slowing U.S. economy is unlikely to sink into an election-year recession and an economic rebound could begin as early as next year as housing and financial market turmoil fades, the Congressional Budget Office forecast on Wednesday.

Some think it’s the worst financial crisis in 60 years (that would be George Soros). I still rather follow the wisdom espoused by John Paul the Great – Be not afraid.
