Got ’em, Captn’

Thank you, Mr. Chekov.Navy Missile Destroys US 193

From the AP:

A missile launched from a Navy ship successfully struck a dying U.S. spy satellite passing 130 miles over the Pacific on Wednesday, a defense official said. Full details were not immediately available. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. EST.

Did it destroy the hydroazine tank? Probably. Like darts and horseshoes, this may be “close enough to count.” But it will day another day to determine that this was the case.

Luboš Motl has his opinions on if this was a good idea or not.

I think it is a good idea for the U.S. or the democratic world to build such a system. At the same moment, it is also clear that some countries that are effectively weakened by such a system may feel a kind of dissatisfaction.

Doesn’t say why this is a good idea, though. For me, this was an effective demo. Apparently, one was needed at this time. At least, I think it was apparent.
