And It’s Not A Yeti Either

My brother the BBD once told me about the joys of being an undergraduate at an engineering school like RPI in Troy N.Y.  On occasion, when the wind was right, some of the students – who shall remain nameless, but whose initials are most definitely not J.D. and Jake – would build a contraption from wire hangers, candles and the kind of clear, plastic bags that you get from dry cleaners and float it over the town at night.  I’m given to understand that the locals (known affectionately as Troylets) were often not amused and apparently they weren’t in Phoenix, either.

A Phoenix man says he caused the red light display that mystified thousands of people as it floated across the north Phoenix sky Monday night.

His neighbor saw him.

“I saw the guy releasing the balloons with the flares on them,” Mailo said. “There is no doubt that they came from here.”
He added, “I don’t think it’s a cool prank because it can panic people.”

Here’s the video of the UFOs.

Luckily, no houses were burned down in the process although we did lose sight of a few of them hot air balloons as they blew downwind.

Don’t go giving your readers any bad ideas.
