Allen Stern Joins Private Moon Effort

Leonard David at Live Science Blogs writes:

The Odyssey Moon effort – one of the private groups vying for the $30 million Google Lunar X Prize – is announcing today that former NASA Associate Administrator, Alan Stern, has accepted a role with the Isle of Man-based private lunar enterprise. Stern is a former chief of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.

And will he remain the PI for New Horizons? No word on that, yet.

I am pleased that Dr. Stern has found a good position. He was always a first-rate person. He has taught a Planetary Science for Aerospace Professionals for ATIcourses.com. He has been principal investigator of numerous instruments on NASA and ESA planetary missions. I hope that he is able to remain the PI for New Horizons, as that mission did a great job of communicating via newsletters.
