James Hansen Rides Again

Lack of Sunspots, 6/23/08I wrote about a year ago on GSFC’s James Hansen, his public denunciation of the Bush Administration’s policy on climate change, the discovery of an apparent bug in his temperature correction algorithms and the controversy over the final interpretation of the results. Hansen has not gone away.

Hansen will be testifying today at 3:00pm EDT today before the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.

Put oil firm chiefs on trial, says leading climate change scientist, The Guardian

“James Hansen, one of the world’s leading climate scientists, will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer.” ….

“He is also considering personally targeting members of Congress who have a poor track record on climate change in the coming November elections. He will campaign to have several of them unseated. “

Okay, then.

If you’d like to hear the man bloviate speak for himself, he was on the Diane Rhem show on WAMU (my local NPR outlet) this morning.

By the way, still no sunspots.
