May He Blow Over

Via Drudge, My Way News reports that Gustav may skirt New Orleans, saving it from the worst case scenario.

A weakened Hurricane Gustav closed in on flood-prone coastal Louisiana Monday, bringing punishing wind and sheets of rain. But the storm veered away from New Orleans, where only a few holdouts and those that refused to abandon Bourbon Street remained.

Much better.CNN reports that, although it’s still pretty ugly, the hurricane has been downgraded to a category 2 storm.

Gustav’s top winds weakened to 110 mph (177 kph), downgrading it to a Category 2 storm, the NHC said.

High-level cat. 2, mind you – nothing to be messed with. Marcus has been blogging the storm (and Twittering) live from NOLA. He’s on generator power now.
